bum, bum, bum, bum (olympic theme song)

Yay! Yay! Yay!  The Olympics are here!  We are so excited.  Okay, I'm so excited and will force the kids to watch a lot of sports the next two weeks.  We are cheering for...
INDIA!
Avika's birth country.  We'll have to watch that female boxer.  I remember looking for India in the opening ceremonies four years ago.  We knew our little girl lived in India, but we hadn't gotten Avika's referral yet.  Look at us now!

INDONESIA!
My birth country.  We will have to watch a little badminton during these games.
USA!
Everyone else's birth country.  Looking forward to so many events!  Avika goes nuts every time gymnastics comes on, I'm hoping swimming will inspire the kids to get better at swimming, and we can't miss any of Pop's track and field events.

Delia's wearing her gold shoes and USA shirt for the games today!

clay class

Delia took a pottery class this summer- she got to throw on the wheel and glaze her pieces.  It looked so fun, wish I had taken the class with her!

summer camp (2)

Miles and Delia are off at VBS at Whispering Pines this week, having the best week ever.  Avika is missing her big sister so much, but we're glad that are having so much fun.

little fish

I made Isaac, Delia, and Miles take swim lessons this summer- still hoping I will have a kid who can swim someday- Taking four kids who can't swim to the pool is too nerve-wracking!  They did ok, Isaac and Delia did gain a little confidence in the water.  We will keep trying!  Avika was my pool buddy while they did their lessons:
Cannonball!  (well, kinda)

fathers day 16

Celebrating Pop on Fathers Day this year.  He really is the best dad ever!

Carne Asada tacos in the back yard.  Yes, I made those tortillas from scratch with my tortilla press.  No, I will probably never do that again.

These kids LOVE their Pop!

summer camp (1)

Isaac got to do a couple of camps this summer.  He has been asking for two years to play football, so we finally gave in a nd let him try a three day football camp in June.  He looks like the real deal!

He liked camp okay but has decided not to play this fall.  I am so, so relieved- I think a whole season of tackle football with my son who is a good 30 pounds lighter than all the other players would do me in.  Not to mention what would happen to Isaac.

A couple of weeks ago we sent Isaac off to his second year of overnight camp at Whispering Pines.  He told me very little about what actually happened at camp, but he came home unbelievably filthy so it must have been a good week!
