Addition Update

The framers were here this week and rocked out on the addition. We were afraid the house would look weird with the extra space, but now we are thinking it looks more balanced. This is very exciting.

More Bike Riding

The snow has melted again- thanks to the nice weather the kids got to do one of their most favorite activities after dinner...

Ride the Train

For Christmas we got tickets to ride the train here in town, and today we finally got to use them. It was so fun! It was about two hours on the train up to Cascade Canyon for a picnic lunch, then two hours back home. The kids did surprisingly well, and we had fa good time playing tourists in our hometown.

Helping Pop

Isaac is crazy about "helping" Pop and Grandpa as they work on our addition. Here he is helping take the forms off the new foundation.

Happy Easter Bunny

Our little bunny on Easter. About as cute as they get, right? Isaac was too hyped up on sugar to sit still for a picture.

Eggs and such

Isaac dyed eggs today for Easter...

And here is a conversation we had the other day. I thought it was hilarious...

Me: Isaac, do you know what's happening this weekend?
Isaac: Yeah.
Me: What?
I: I don't know.
Me: Isaac, it's Easter.
I: Yeah!
Me: Do you remember why we celebrate Easter? It's very special.
I: The Easter Bunny!
Me: And what else?
I: And chocolate Easter Bunny eggs treats.
Me: Yeah, Easter is a little bit about treats and the Easter Bunny, but mostly what is it about?
I: Treats!
Me: No, Bud, Jesus. Remember?
I: Yeah! Jesus!
Me: What did Jesus do on Easter?
I: He takes our Easter Bunny eggs and throws them down on the floor!
Me: What?! Where did you hear that? No, what did Jesus do?
I: He loves me when I'm good, and he loves me when I'm bad.
Matt: Yeah, Bud, because of what happens on Easter.
I: Yup. And chocolate bunny egg treats.

And so it begins...

We started our addition on the house yesterday. We are pushing one of the walls out to give us a little more space. Yeah! Here is the house before it all begins...

Welcome Jackson!!!

Our little nephew, Jackson, is finally here. He is totally awesome. Isaac won the family pool- guessing most accurately when he would come, how much he'd weigh, and that he would be a BOY. Go Isaac! The 411 on Jackson Eugene...
Born March 30th at 5:47pm in Durango, CO, 8lb 7oz., 20 inches long.
Aunt Vanessa was a rock star- she is looking and doing great! This kid couldn't ask for better parents. Jackson we are so glad that you are here, and we can't wait to hang out with you!

What's up

So I haven't been blogging much lately- mostly because I haven't been taking many pictures. I think we just haven't been doing many exciting things. Maybe we will plan an adventure! Anyway- I thought I'd give an update on what the kids have been doing-
Isaac is learning to read! He's doing really well... sounding out letters and turning them into words. He loves his new skill and wants to spell out EVERYTHING. It's so exciting to to watch him soak all this up! We are also trying to work on potty training- it's not going so well. I'm pretty sure he will be reading chapter books before we get him out of diapers. Delia is finally talking- real words in English out loud. Mostly "hi" and "bye" and "ball." Every once and a while she graces us with "Mama" or "Bop-Pa!" (Poppa). Some times she screeches "IIII-EEEE!" while pointing at Isaac, so I'm assuming that is her name for her brother. I'm working on turning it into "Ike."Yeah! The snow is almost all gone here, and we have been playing outside in the backyard and our neighborhood park a ton. Isaac wants to ride his bike all the time. Delia is a total playground daredevil. She runs around completely fearless, flinging herself head-first down giant slides, climbing to the top of the highest jungle gyms in seconds. It is ... exhausting!

Beyond the kids... a couple weeks ago Matt gave the sermon at our church. Can you believe they let this guy up front?? He did an awesome job!

Another Post-Nap Delia

Delia's hair is getting longer and I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. I never thought Matt & I would disagree about growing out our daughter's bangs. This is her hair after a crazy nap...

Take it easy...

They have been running the movie Nacho Libre on TV a bunch lately- it's one of our favorites. Totally awesome.

So Matt got his Nacho Libre mask out the other night- here is Isaac as Nacho wrestling with Pop...

Sick kids

The kids have been sick for awhile now- today we found out both of Delia's ears are infected and she likely has the flu. Isaac is getting better except for the nagging cough. Hopefully now that we have some antibiotics Delia will be on the mend, too. Here's a couple of pictures of the kids before they got sick- to remind us of the dispositions we've been missing...

Day of Love

Happy Valentine's Day!
Matt and I did something fun to celebrate this year- we drove up to Grand Junction with our friends Jeff & Danica to see our favorite, Brian Regan. It was awesome! We left the kids overnight for the first time and had a glorious uninterrupted night of sleep. I was sad when we came home and the kids had really no interest in seeing us. They were have too much fun with Oma and Grandpa. The dog was 10 times more excited to see us. At least the kids had a good time! Sheep on the road on the way to Ouray... Stopping in Ouray on the way back...

Superheroes

I recently made a superhero cape for Isaac- once Delia saw him playing with it she wanted one... immediately! So I fixed a piece of fabric for her to play with , too. Here they are playing superheroes-

Hot Wheels Potty Training

We've been working to get Isaac potty trained lately- I had been dragging my feet, but it's really time for him to give up diapers. We have tried everything to motivate him including a very, very silly "Pee Pee On The Potty!" song and dance. I read about someone using Matchbox or Hot Wheels cars as reward so we thought we'd give it a try. It's working well with Isaac. He is well on his way to wearing his Lightning McQueen skivvies instead of Huggie's. He's also learning a lot about cars- he'll hold up a car and tell me, "This is a GTO, this is a Woodie, this is a Porshe..." Now if we could only find a place to put all these cars!

Adios Mustach-o

Matt's mustache. It was fun for awhile, but we're all glad it's gone now.

3D Superbowl

The kids with the 3D glasses we picked up for the Superbowl...

To Grandma's House We Go

Last weekend we finally made it to Matt's mom's house to hang out. We had a great time. The kids didn't want to come home! Here are some highlights...
Isaac in "The Orange Chair." This is a chair that Matt used as a kid and that his mom, Barb, used when she was a kid.
Matt with the kids...

On the way to feed the horses...
Both the kids love the piano at Grandma's house, but especially Isaac...

Delia in the car on the way home. I can't say that they were great travelers, but we made it!
Snow on Wolf Creek...

Dressed Up Delia

This is the dress I bought for Delia to wear for Christmas this year. It had been hanging in her closet for 11 months, so I was excited for her to finally wear it to church for Christmas. Christmas Eve was super busy and I never got pictures of the kids dressed up. So I stuck Delia in the dress again to try to get a couple of pictures- I had visions of her sitting in a chair and smiling, something like that. Instead she was sprinting from room to room laughing and most of my shots are of the back of her head- these are a couple of her face. She is super cute, no?
