We are so grateful to have this little one- Happy Birthday Miles.  We love you so much!

Miles' 2nd Birthday Party

This little boy LOVES Cars.
So we had an awesome May-May (Mater) and Pa-CHOW (Lightning McQueen) birthday party for him.

Taking a wack at the checkered flag pinata...

Opening presents- mostly Cars related...

He did get a new Manning jersey and fun birthday crown which he doned immediately...

Of course we had a McQueen cake.  My camera ran out of batteries as soon as I took this picture so I missed blowing out candles, etc.  Miles loved his party!

Bike Riding Delia

After a whole summer of ignoring her bike, Delia suddenly decided to learn how to ride it.  To celebrate we let her paint Isaac's old bike purple!

First Days of School

This year Isaac is in first grade and Delia is doing another year of preschool.  The kids were really ready to get back to school- and after a challenging summer I was pretty ready for school days to start as well.  We love Isaac's teacher and spending another year at NH preschool.  Looks like it's going to be a great school year!

Sink or Swim

In August I finally got Isaac and Delia into swim lessons.  I can pretty easily say that we don't have any future olympic swimmers in our family.  The kids learned how to get wet without freaking out and how to kind of put their faces in the water.  Hooray for progress- I'll take it.  Here they are showing off their crawl stroke before their last lesson...

We're back!

We're back!  On this blog anyway.  We actually didn't go anywhere, but my computer was very sick.  I think it's well enough to start posting again- lots of backlog to get caught up on.  Lots of photos coming soon...

the 4th

For the 4th of July this year we took a hike up the ridge next to our house...

Played Slip-N-Slide in the backyard (this is Delia doing a runway walk)...

Wore our red, white and blue...

Rode bikes...

And lit sparklers as our fireworks were cancelled this year...

Happy Independence!!

Camping at Vallecito

We went camping last weekend at Vallecito with my brother and his kids.  It was definitely our most "successful" camping experience with kids so far.  Hopefully it will keep getting easier the older they get.  And having cousins to play with made it so fun!

Pop having fun in the tent...

Siblings in their camp chairs...

Favorite part of camping for the kids- playing in the dirt with their cousins!

Root, root, root for the Thunder...

Isaac played for the Thunder this T-Ball season.  It was so fun to see him improve over last season- his hitting, catching, and throwing have all gotten better.  Paying attention to the game for longer than three seconds, however, needs a little work.  The Thunder made some actual plays this season, making the games pretty enjoyable to watch.  We are so proud of our little slugger!

Backyard Swimming

We've been trying to stay cool by swimming in the backyard.  Miles thought the hose water was TOO cold, but Isaac and Delia are loving it, especially their dollar bin squirt guns.

Happy Bop Day

For Father's Day the kids took Matt miniature golfing- it's becoming our annual Father's Day outing.  It was fun to have Miles running around swinging a club, too, now that he's big enough.
For some reason all the kids have different names for Matt- Isaac calls Matt "Pop", Delia calls him "Daddy", and Miles is finally talking and calls him "Bop!" or "Boppa!!"  They LOVE Pop/Daddy/Bop!

100 Day Project

To celebrate the 100th day of school Isaac was supposed to bring a collection of 100 things.  With Matt's help he decided on a collection of 100 nails.  He marked out all the lines and then pounded all 100 nails all by himself.  He's pretty good at it- I think it's time to put him to work around here!

Shortly after turning in his project Isaac brought home a safety packet full of things to avoid to stay safe at home.  This was the last page...

So maybe we aren't the most safety-conscious parents, but our kids will know how to swing a hammer.

Kickin' It

We put to rest another soccer season a couple of weeks ago.  The Coyotes (Delia's team) and the Fireballs (Isaac's team) played well this year.  Most notably it did not snow on us this year, which is rare for spring soccer in Durango.  Delia learned a lot from Coach Daddy, and by the end of the season she had become a little scoring machine.  I think there will be a lot of soccer in her future.  And more sportsmanship lessons.  Her competitive spirit is definitely coming to the surface.  Isaac's interest in soccer seems to have lagged quite a bit- we'll have to see if he plays again in the fall.  Matt enjoyed coaching again, and it was fun to get to know the families on Delia's team especially.  Miles and I are the ever faithful sideline cheerleaders.  We are proud of our soccer superstars.
