when I grow up...

Tonight Matt asked Isaac what he's going to be when he grows up.

Without looking up from the racket he was creating with his favorite hammer he said, "LOUD!"

Isaac's Dreams

Every morning after Isaac wakes up I ask him about his dreams while changing him. They usually involve a combination of Papa, Ga-ga (uncle Jason), Mo-yo (our dog Mojo), and Ro-ro (Jason's dog Rosie) and the activities of golfing and peeing. For instance the last four days he has dreamed about Papa and Jason playing golf and soccer. As his vocabulary expands, however, Isaac's dream explanations have become more creative and are usually pretty entertaining. Here are a couple favorites:

Papa is working outside in the dirt with a shovel with Major (Major is a guy who works for Grandpa doing excavation.)

Papa and Oma (my mom) are drinking beers that are yummy. This one was particularly humorous for us. I have never in my life seen my mom drink alcohol, especially a beer. When we go to the store to visit Matt at work we talk about what is "yummy" and what is "yucky." Beer is on the "yucky" list, along with tobacco, soda, and coffee- almost everything we sell. Pretty much the only things in the store in the "yummy" category are milk and hot dogs. Anyway, where this dream came from- who knows, but it's pretty funny to imagine.

Broken Arm

In June Isaac broke his arm falling off a step. We knew it was only a matter of time before we ended up in the ER with him- he was a trooper and the 4 weeks of being in a cast didn't really seem to bother him at all (he is pretending to be sad above.) With the exception of not taking many baths he did everything he normally does, including stopping for a drink with Dad on the Forth of July in our newly finished backyard.
