Labor Day Camping

We did some last minute camping over Labor Day weekend, just an overnight trip about 20 minutes outside of Durango.  The kids "helped" me put our giant tent up while Matt was at work.  The kids' highlight was meeting a kid from Flagstaff a couple campsites over.  He shared his book of facts with us, taught us how to make the best s'more ever (for real!), and taught us an inappropriate song before we went to bed.  The kids are still talking about their new friend, A.  Unfortunately it rained almost all night, but the kids slept through it, and it drove our loud neighbors into their tents.
Happy to be living in a place where we can do stuff like this!

Back to School

The kids on their first days of school this year...
Delia started kindergarten and joined Isaac at our elementary school.  We are happy that she has Ms. O (Isaac's teacher in K)- she is awesome.  It sounds like she is making lots of friends, loves all her "specials" (ART!, p.e., and music), and comes home every day singing songs Ms. O has taught her.

Isaac started 2nd grade with Mrs. A, and it sounds like it is going well.  Mostly he just tells me about playing soccer with his friends at recess.  He hasn't lost his hat or sweatshirt yet, so I think 2nd grade is going great!

Miles started preschool this week.  He is going two mornings a week, and we love being at NH for the sixth(!) year.  He was a bit hesitant for me to leave him on Tuesday, but this morning after walking in he tells me, "Mommy, you need to leave now."  And gave me a little push toward the door.  I'm trying to be grateful that all my kids are so independent and LOVE going to school!
Recently Miles learned some of the real lyrics to Gangnam Style. Instead of singing "Heeeeey, whatcha doin'?" he now sings "Heeeeeey, sexy baby!"  Yikes!  Thankfully he hasn't been singing it at school.  I'm chalking this up to preschool success!

Go Broncos?

We are currently waiting for the rain to stop in Denver so we can watch the first game of the season- Go Broncos!  The kids all wore their Broncos gear to school today to show their support.  After dinner I tried to get a picture of the kids in their orange and blue. I think a root canal would have been easier.  And more pleasant.  This is what we got.

Dirty Deeds

Isaac and Matt went camping- just the boys- a couple of weeks ago and came back disgustingly filthy.  I'm sad this picture doesn't do all the dirt justice.  Sounds like they had the best time ever, though!

Sum, Sum, Summertime!

On our list of fun things to do this summer- make popsicles. Here we are hanging out in the backyard eating popsicles we made.

Donuts and Iron Horse

I think we've created a new family tradition.  Stuffing our faces with donuts while we watch bike riders take off for the Iron Horse (a grueling bike race through the mountains from Durango to Silverton held every May.)  I can safely say I will never ride the Iron Horse, but I do a great job eating my organic, free range donuts.  My brother rode this year and made it all the way to Silverton.  Way to go Uncle Jason- so proud of you!

Last Days of School

Isaac on his last day of first grade.  He had a great year, a wonderful teacher, and learned so much.

Delia and Miles on her last day of preschool.

Delia had a little program and a graduation ceremony.

We love seeing Delia sing all her songs with Miss M.  I'm so glad we've got a couple more years at NH school with Miles!
