Playing Outside

Since it's summertime we've been spending tons of time outside. Here are a few highlights:
Isaac & Delia in their backyard playhouse-In the "new" wagon we just got at a garage sale (for $7!!) Great for walking to the park...
Drawing with sidewalk chalk...
Hopscotch!
Off to play some golf...
I introduced the kids to running through the sprinklers. Isaac LOVED it...
Delia did not love it. She spent the morning like this. She has teeth coming in spends a lot of time chewing on her hand...

Camping Trip

This weekend we took the kids camping for the first time. Matt and I both grew up in the mountains and loved camping as kids, so we figured it was time to get started with our kids. After our 15 hour adventure we think we might wait until they are a little bit older to do a lot more "roughing it." I think the kids mostly had fun, but the fire was a bit stressful (especially with Delia screaming her head off if I went anywhere near the fire- no marshmallows for Mommy) and, as expected, the kids had a hard time sleeping in the tent. I spent most of the night clinging to a sliver of my Thermarest trying to stay warm while Delia hogged my pillow and sleeping bag. Matt chased Isaac's slippery sleeping bag all over the tent all night, and neither of us slept much. We were pulling back into our garage by 8am the next morning. At least we gave it a shot. Here's some highlights-
Roasting marshmallows with Pop... Mesmerized by the fire...
Snuggling in sleeping bags...

Hiking with Pop...
Playing with their new flashlights (!)...

Happy 4th

Happy belated Independence Day! We had a fun 4th... I tried to explain the holiday to Isaac, but all he really caught was the fireworks part. He did get to see fireworks and was actually very good sitting and watching them. Delia was all over the place- maybe she will enjoy them more next year. As a side note... somehow during our watching fireworks conversation Isaac learned the phrase "piece of work." Now he tells the dog, "Mojo, you are a piece of work!"
Besides the pyrotechnics we had a great day. A couple of weeks ago Matt surprised me with a new bike! I love it! We decided to get a bike trailer for Delia, too, so the whole family can ride together. For the 4th we rode to the park (it only took 20 minutes to go half a mile... Isaac is a bit slow on his bike) and had fun playing and running around.
The kids supervising Pop hooking up the trailer... Delia in her tiny helmet. It looks like she is crying, but she's really laughing...Mommy on her new cruiser... Pop swinging with D... Isaac loves to climb on EVRYTHING...And Delia's favorite- swinging!
