Fun at the park

The weather has been really mild lately, so we've been taking advantage and hanging out at our neighborhood park- the RED! park according to Isaac. Delia's favorites are swinging and sliding. Isaac's favorites are running around and getting to ride his trike all the way there and back. He likes to run up to each kid at the park and introduce himself, "Hi! I'm Isaac. How are doing doing?" Unfortunately the response he usually gets is a blank stare or to be totally ignored. At least it doesn't seem to faze him- we always have fun at the park!

Trick or treat

Happy Halloween! The kids are upstairs sleeping off their sugar comas after a great night- trick or treating, the carnival at our church, visiting friends and family, eating candy! This is our conversation on the way home:
Matt: Let's go home and have some dinner.
Isaac: AND have a candy treat.
M: Yes, you can have one treat before bed.
I: That would be tastic.
Me: Do you mean fantastic?
I: Yeah! Tastic!
That kid is one tastic little ninja! Here's all of our costumes for Halloween 08- a golfer, a ninja, a ballerina, and a kitten.

Bote Early

Yesterday the kids and I went to the court house to pick up my ballot so I could vote early. I thought you had to sign up for early voting when you register, but it turns out in Colorado you don't! Isaac was very interested in the whole thing. He kept asking me, "Is she boting Mommy? Is that man boting?" To random people walking by he would tell them, "We're boting here!" What a helper. So I was able to take my ballot home and can go drop it off when I'm done. Now I don't have to get a sitter to go and vote or stand in line forever with my kids. Nice. Only one week left- find out if there's early voting in your state!
Isaac says, "Don't forget to bote!"

The Happiest Place on Earth

Well I doubt that Disneyland really is the happiest place on earth, but I LOVE Disneyland and we had a great time for the kids' first visit. We tried to keep expectations low and only do what the kids seemed up for (which was quite a bit considering the heat- 97 degrees our first day there!), but I got to get in all my childhood favorites and Matt got to ride some of the roller coasters, too. We were happy and totally exhausted after our three days at the two parks.
Our first moments at the park... unfortunately we could get shots of all of us looking at the camera...
Isaac on the carousel- on most of the rides as soon as they stopped he asked to ride them again and again. Too bad we had to get back in line!
On the Jungle Cruise...
At Woody's roundup...Meeting Mickey at his house...
Hot, sweaty, and tired on the monorail...
One of Delia's favorite things was watching one of the roller coasters take off at California Adventure...

Sharing a lollipop with Pop...
Trying on their mouse ears at the hotel...

Happy Birthday Baby

Our baby is ONE! I can't believe a year ago we were off to the hospital with only one kid at home. This little girl has kept us busy and unbelievably entertained the past 12 months. She is a mover and a shaker, literally- the girl was born to dance. She loves to snuggle and gives the best hugs. She has a great sense of humor- I have a feeling that when she starts talking she'll be telling lots of jokes- mostly to her big brother. She always wants to see what he is doing and loves to laugh with him. We love her more than we thought possible and are so grateful to have her as a daughter. We love Delia Jane!
For her party we had family over to the house for presents and birthday cake. Favorites so far seem to be her new tutu and tiara, her pink rocking chair, and her new big, big bear.

Growing up my sister and I always had small figurines on our birthday cakes, so I decided to carry on the tradition with Delia. Since we had just been to Disneyland, I picked up Tinkerbell to commemorate our trip and her first birthday.
At first Delia wasn't very interested in eating any cake until I gave her a fork- then she had a great time!

Birthday Ballerina

Yesterday was Delia's 1st birthday! I will post with more info and pictures, but I thought I'd throw this video up so you can see how cute our one year old is! Happy Birthday Sweet P!

*** Just a reminder- you can watch this video without listening to our "soundtrack"- just go to the bottom of the page and turn off or pause our play list ***

I still have pictures of our big CA trip from Disney to post... hopefully I'll get to it soon!

5 years

Our 5th anniversary ended up being the last day of our big California trip- the big drive home. Not the most romantic thing, spending 15+ hours in the car with 2 tired kids. So we celebrated a couple days early while we were in Anaheim. My parents graciously watched the kids so we could go out to eat (Benihana- we love that place!), and then we did last minute souvenir shopping at Disneyland.
After our dinner the waitress brought us a celebratory piece of pineapple. The couple next to us asked what we were celebrating. "Our anniversary- 5 years," we told them. "Really?" the wife was surprised. "I thought you guys were dating!" We took it as a complement. Our day-to-day life sure doesn't feel as thrilling as the brief time we were dating. It's good to now that spark is still apparent!
It's been a crazy ride- five years ago we never would have guessed that we would be here doing what we're doing with our 2 great kids. We constantly tell each other how grateful we are to be together in this whirlwind life of ours!

Hit the Beach

So we are back from our big vacation! It was great and a much need break from life here in Colorado. On the last day of our time there we drove up to Manhattan Beach to visit my Uncle Tom and Aunt Diane. It was wonderful to see them, and we took the opportunity to take our land-locked kids to see the ocean for the first time.
Here's the whole fam-

The kids did NOT like getting their feet wet. And at first neither of them liked the sand, but eventually thy warmed up to it.

Isaac's favorite part? Playing in the sand with Pop! He also liked looking at the aquarium at the end of the pier with Uncle Tom.

Delia's favorite part? Yelling into the wind as we walked out to the end of the pier. She also loved watching all the birds flying around.

Little Buckaroo

This week was cowboy week at Isaac's preschool, so today everyone got to dress up like cowboys. I pulled out Isaac's Halloween costume from last year plus boots I found at a consignment shop last week. Is this a handsome cowpoke or what? He even brought Diamond the horse to school to meet his friends.
When I asked him what he learned about cowboys he told me, "Cowboys ride horses and cows and stuff."
On another note, we leave in a couple of days for California for much needed family vacation. We haven't had a real vacation in about 2 1/2 years- we can't wait! We are ready for Disneyland, the beach , and In-N-Out!!
